What's included

De-risk the design before bulk.

Samples that prove cost, fit and finish.

Sampling is where most footwear risk is removed - or hidden until it is expensive. A physical sample exposes everything a flat drawing cannot: how the upper sits on the last, whether the overlay pattern bonds cleanly, how the midsole density feels underfoot, whether the outsole flex grooves land where the foot actually bends. We build that pair, give DFM feedback, and iterate until it matches your intent and your target cost.

The process is deliberately staged. The first sample validates construction and proportion - it answers "is this the right shoe?" before anyone fusses over a stitch. Revision rounds then dial in fit, materials, colour and finish. The final round confirms the pair against the agreed cost and freezes it. That frozen pair is the golden sample, and it carries weight: it defines bulk quality, drives the inspection checklist, and settles any later dispute about "what was approved".

We are candid about manufacturability. If a material won't hold a print at your price, if a wall thickness will sink-mark, if a knit needs a counter it doesn't have, we say so during sampling rather than letting it surface in bulk. Realistic sampling beats over-promising - it is cheaper to change a sample than to scrap a container.

Costing is tied directly to the confirmed build, not a hopeful estimate. As materials, branding method and construction settle, so does the price, so the number you approve at golden sample is the number that carries into bulk. For where sampling sits in the wider workflow, see OEM / ODM development; for what the sample unlocks, see bulk production.

Lead time for a development sample is typically 15-25 days, driven mainly by tooling needs and material availability. Stock-component builds move faster; new last or mould tooling adds time, which we flag up front in the sample plan.

  • Development sample from sketch, reference pair or tech pack
  • DFM feedback and material substitution options
  • Fit, last and size-grade checks
  • Branding method validation on the actual material
  • Costing tied to the confirmed construction
  • Defined revision rounds with tooling-cost transparency
  • Golden-sample sign-off and reference-pair retention
Capabilities

Capability cards.

First sample

An initial build to validate construction, proportion, look and feel against your brief before detail work begins.

Revisions

Staged fit, material, colour and finish adjustments until the pair matches intent and the agreed cost.

Costing

Transparent cost tied to the confirmed construction, materials and branding - the number that carries into bulk.

Golden sample

A signed reference pair that defines bulk quality, drives inspection and settles "what was approved".

Why choose us

What you get from sampling here

A good sample partner removes risk and surprises - not just a pretty prototype, but a costed, repeatable definition of the product.

Manufacturability first

We build for bulk, not for a one-off hero shot, so the sample actually scales.

  • DFM feedback every round
  • Substitution options offered
  • No surprises in bulk

Cost locked at sign-off

The price you approve at golden sample is the price that carries into production.

  • Cost tied to real BOM
  • Branding method priced in
  • Tooling cost stated up front

A reference that holds

The signed pair defines quality and ends disputes about what was approved.

  • Retained golden sample
  • Drives inspection checklist
  • Basis for reorders
How it runs

From first sample to golden sample

Each stage answers a different question, so you only pay to refine a design that is already proven to be the right shoe.

Stage 1

First sample

Validate the core: construction, proportion and overall look against the brief.

  • Built from sketch / pair / tech pack
  • Construction and last checked
  • Big decisions confirmed early
Stage 2

Revision rounds

Dial in fit, materials, colour and branding finish; iterate until it matches intent.

  • Fit and size-grade adjustments
  • Material and overlay tuning
  • Branding tested on the real surface
Stage 3

Golden sample

Freeze the confirmed pair, lock the cost, and sign it as the bulk reference.

  • Cost confirmed against final build
  • Pair signed and retained
  • Inspection checklist derived from it
Order workflow

From submit to delivery.

01

Submit specs / upload files

Send market, category, size range, target material, logo and quantity. Tech packs or reference pairs welcome.

02

Engineering review & quote

We review construction and branding, flag DFM issues, then return a sample plan and quotation route.

03

Sample & confirm

We develop the sample, adjust fit and finish, and lock the golden sample before bulk.

04

Production, QC & export

In-line and final inspection, then carton marking, packing list and ship-ready export documents.

FAQ

Common questions.

How long does a sample take?
Typically 15-25 days for a development sample, depending mainly on tooling needs and material availability. Stock-component builds are faster; new last or mould tooling adds time, which we flag in the sample plan.
Are samples free?
Sample and tooling costs are usually quoted. On qualified projects we offer free unbranded samples; we confirm the arrangement in writing in the quote so there is no ambiguity.
How many revision rounds are included?
We iterate until the golden sample is confirmed. The number of included rounds and any extra tooling cost for major changes are agreed up front in the sample plan.
What if the sample can't hit my target cost?
We tell you during sampling and offer levers - material substitution, simpler overlays, different outsole coverage, a cheaper branding method - so you can decide the trade-off rather than discover it in bulk.
Can you sample from just a reference pair?
Yes. We can develop a manufacturable interpretation from a reference pair without copying any trademarked design, and confirm the construction on the sample.
What exactly is a golden sample?
It is the final, approved pair that both sides sign as the definition of bulk quality. It drives the inspection checklist and is retained as the reference for production and any reorders.
